Sophie on SofaSophie Saraby was born into a musical family and began playing the piano at the age of 6. After winning music prizes at school she went on to the Purcell School of Music and began studying with the Polish pianist Maria Donska.

She entered the Royal College of Music on a performers course and continued her studies with Maria Donska and John Barstow. After leaving the RCM she studied with the Swiss pianist Albert Ferber and took part in master classes with Gwyneth Pryor and Martino Tirino.

At this time she also formed a flute duo with Ann Radzinovisc and took part in international competitions.

She began teaching in 1981 at Downe House school (where she taught until 1995) and in 1986 began teaching at Winchester College where she still teaches.

She has performed in numerous venues as accompanist, notably with flautist Robin Soldan and violinist Amy Fleicher.

She lives in Winchester with her husband and has two daughters.
