Remote Lessons Available

I can provide remote lessons over the Internet using Zoom, Skype, Google Hangouts, or whichever service you prefer. My experience of giving these remote lessons has been that they are an effective alternative to face-to-face lessons.

Playing a musical instrument is not easy. In fact I can’t think of a more demanding skill. But the rewards are a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction that is hard to equal – plus the joy of exploring so much incredible music.

My aim is to provide the kind of piano tuition I wish I’d had as a child and student.

My teaching today is a distillation of over 40 years of studying and teaching the piano and I’m still learning every day from every pupil.

Guiding someone down this path calls for the utmost care, with encouragement, fun and a constant sense of achievement paving the way.

A good teacher adapts to the needs of every pupil. A beginner has quite different wants from a diploma student although the underlying enjoyment and improvement should be the same.

Whether you want to enter a specialist music college or learn from scratch to play one or two pieces for fun, my job is to give you the skills to reach these goals.

I enjoy teaching all levels and get every bit as much satisfaction from helping young children learn to play their first pieces as I do from helping the most advanced students through a demanding exam or audition.

• Adult beginners are most welcome. You will be assured of a sympathetic approach, with no expectation of ‘doing it better’ because your’re not a child.
• If you have a very busy schedule with limited practice time – that’s fine. We will work around this and find the most productive way to progress.
• I enter pupils for all grade exams and diplomas but if this isn’t what you want there is no obligation at all to do them.
